Larry Jackson hired as strength and conditioning coach, replaces Adam Beard

The Browns have made significant changes to their strength and conditioning staff following the 0-16 season.

Larry Jackson was hired as head of strength and conditioning, the team announced Friday.

He replaces Adam Beard, who served as director of high performance since 2015. Beard will remain with the organization in an advisory role.

Dale Jones and Monty Gibson were hired as strength and conditioning assistants. Evan Marcus and Josh Christovich remain on the staff.

Jackson was assistant strength and conditioning coach with the Chargers last season after 19 years at the college level. He was Texas A&M’s director of football sports performance from 2012-16.

The strength and conditioning staff reports to Joe Sheehan, who was promoted to vice president of player health and development earlier in the offseason. Sheehan has been head athletic trainer since 2009.

Shone Gipson was hired as assistant athletic trainer to replace Andre Tucker, who left to become Chicago’s head athletic trainer.
