The Browns liked what they saw from a pair of tryouts at rookie minicamp and signed tight end Julian Allen and defensive end Lenny Jones on Sunday.
Allen (6-foot-3, 245 pounds) caught 22 passes for 298 yards in two seasons at Southern Miss.
Jones (6-2, 256) was signed by San Francisco as an undrafted rookie in 2016 and has spent time on the practice squads of the Rams and Cowboys. He finished fifth in Nevada history with 19 sacks and 10th with 31.5 tackles for loss.
The Browns also signed three from the nine-man draft class to their rookie contracts — offensive lineman Austin Corbett, receiver Damion Ratley and cornerback Simeon Thomas.
Corbett, the No. 33 pick, will get a chance to win the starting left tackle job, which is up for grabs after the retirement of 10-time Pro Bowler Joe Thomas. Corbett started 48 straight games at Nevada.
Ratley, a sixth-round pick, caught 37 passes for 673 yards and six touchdowns in 34 games at Texas A&M.
Thomas, also a sixth-rounder, had 90 tackles, 21 passes defensed and two interceptions in 31 games at Louisiana Lafayette.
