The Browns claimed punter Justin Vogel off waivers from the Packers on Monday. He joins incumbent Britton Colquitt, an eight-year veteran.
Vogel (6-foot-5, 220 pounds) was undrafted out of the University of Miami last year and spent the season with the Packers. He punted 71 times for a 44.4-yard average and franchise-record 41.6 net. He landed 19 inside the 20-yard line with only two touchbacks.
Colquitt had a 47.6 gross and 40.6 net last year with 24 inside the 20 and two touchbacks.
The Browns waived quarterback Joel Stave. He was signed April 30 and participated in rookie minicamp over the weekend.
Tight end Randall Telfer, who was waived last week, was claimed by the Colts. The Browns originally tried to trade him to the Chiefs but the deal didn’t go through.
