Dez Bryant tweets he’ll visit Cleveland after GM John Dorsey said Bryant wouldn’t return his calls

Browns general manager John Dorsey told reporters Thursday night in New Jersey former Cowboys receiver Dez Bryant wouldn’t return his phone calls.

Then Bryant took to Twitter to discuss the Browns and his plans.

“Starting my visits next week…I’m coming to the Land to see you Mr Dorsey,” he tweeted during the Browns’ preseason game against the New York Giants.

Bryant, 29, is a free agent after being released by the Cowboys in April. In eight years in Dallas, he caught 531 passes for 7,459 yards, a 14.0 average and 73 touchdowns.

Dorsey gave a strong endorsement of Bryant at the start of training camp, despite questions about his personality, and said the personnel department had discussed signing him.

Cleveland’s need at receiver is greater now with the continued absence of Josh Gordon and the trade of Corey Coleman on Sunday.

Dorsey said he’d host a mix of veteran and rookie receivers next week. He was asked if Bryant would be there.

“If he returns a phone call, it may be,” Dorsey said. “But he doesn’t return any phone calls.”

Bryant tweeted that he “actually did talk with Mr Dorsey.”

In a separate tweet, he typed: “For real… I wouldn’t mind playing for the browns.. I just want to be right first”

Bryant reportedly turned down a three-year offer from the Ravens worth about $21 million earlier in the offseason. He might prefer a one-year, prove-it deal and Thursday explained his inactivity.

“…I played with a broken foot before based of emotions trying to satisfy the fans..” he tweeted. “that didn’t work out to well for me…so this time I choosing to be 100 % for sure.. I’ll take all the time I need to show who I am… I have a legit 3years left”

The physical wideout (6-foot-2, 220 pounds) started all 16 games last year with 69 catches for 838 yards, a 12.1 average and six touchdowns. He’s gone three years without 1,000 yards after three straight seasons with more than 1,200. He made the Pro Bowl in 2013, ’14 and ’16.

Bryant was tuned into the Browns-Giants game.

“Ok DAWG POUND!” he tweeted.

“Ok Baker,” he tweeted about No. 1 draft pick Baker Mayfield, who threw two touchdown passes.

“Alright juice!!!” he tweeted about receiver Jarvis Landry, who opened the night with a long catch from Tyrod Taylor.

Bryant and Landry have been talking on social media this week.

“Yea Juice!!!!.. gave me chills man!!!” Bryant tweeted about Landry’s passionate speech on “Hard Knocks.” “I love this @God_Son80”

Landry responded Wednesday.

“Ride With Me @DezBryant”

The pairing remains a possibility. Especially if Bryant returns Dorsey’s call.
