BEREA — Las Vegas hit the jackpot.
Northeast Ohio busted.
The NFL announced Wednesday that Las Vegas was picked to host the 2020 draft. The Browns, Pro Football Hall of Fame and Greater Cleveland Sports Commission had submitted a joint bid to bring the draft to Northeast Ohio.
“We remain committed to hosting an NFL Draft in Northeast Ohio and will continue to work closely with the NFL to identify the ideal opportunity for our fans, our city and the league,” a Browns spokesman said in a statement. “There are many teams and cities across the NFL who are capable of creating an exceptional draft experience for fans, including the Titans and Raiders, and we are still hopeful we may ultimately share that honor in the future.”
The Canton-Cleveland bid was for 2019 or 2020. Nashville had previously been chosen to host in 2019.
The Raiders are relocating from Oakland to Las Vegas for the 2020 season.
