Charles Walls hired as national scout after 7 years with Packers

General manager Andrew Berry’s personnel department continues to take shape.

Charles Walls was hired as a national scout, a league source confirmed to The Chronicle-Telegram on Thursday. He spent the past seven seasons with the Packers, most recently as the Southwest area scout.

Kwesi Adofo-Mensah was previously hired as vice president of football operations — essentially assistant general manager — and former Colts GM Ryan Grigson will stay in a full-time role after serving as an adviser during the draft process, the source said last week. None of the moves has been announced by the team.

Adofo-Mensah had been the director of football research and development for the 49ers.

Before joining the Packers, Walls was an assistant coach at Old Dominion, his alma mater. His playing career as an offensive lineman ended due to injury.

He has bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Old Dominion and served as a Congressional intern.
