Baker Mayfield, Odell Beckham Jr., Jarvis Landry active, in starting lineup to face Steelers

The trio of Browns offensive stars is ready to go.

Quarterback Baker Mayfield and receivers Odell Beckham Jr. and Jarvis Landry are active and in the starting lineup for today’s showdown with the Steelers at Heinz Field.

All three were listed as questionable on the official injury report after being limited during the practice week.

Mayfield has sore ribs and a sore right side after taking a big hit from Colts defensive end Justin Houston last week. He practiced fully Friday after not throwing during practice Wednesday and being limited Thursday.

Beckham was sent home Thursday before practice with an illness and wasn’t allowed to return to the team until Saturday morning after two coronavirus tests came back negative 24 hours apart.

Landry’s dealing with injuries to his hip and ribs after taking a shot from a Colts defender in the first quarter. He’s never missed a game in his NFL career and this will be No. 102.

Left-footed punter Jamie Gillan (left groin) is also active after being listed as questionable. He hurt the groin in practice Thursday and was limited Friday.

Defensive tackle Larry Ogunjobi (abdomen) and defensive end Olivier Vernon (groin) are also active and expected to start after being listed as questionable.

The Browns (4-0) and Steelers (4-0) are set to kick off at 1 p.m. The Browns look to end a 16-game losing streak at Heinz Field.

The Browns had no major surprises on the inactives list. Safeties Karl Joseph (hamstring) and Ronnie Harrison (concussion), right guard Wyatt Teller (calf) and rookie linebacker Jacob Phillips (knee) were ruled out Friday.

Defensive tackle Vincent Taylor is a bit of a surprise as a healthy inactive after starting last week in place of Ogunjobi, who was inactive. Rookie Jordan Elliott will be the third tackle behind Ogunjobi and Sheldon Richardson.

Defensive end Joe Jackson is the other inactive.

Sheldrick Redwine will start at safety alongside Andrew Sendejo. Chris Hubbard will start at right guard.

Nickelback/special teamer Tavierre Thomas will be the game captain, as picked by the coaching staff.
