Veteran WR Marquise Goodwin agrees to deal

The need for speed is never fully met.

ESPN first reported the one-year deal.

The Browns traded for Jets receiver Elijah Moore on Wednesday. He and Goodwin add a speed dimension missing last season.

Goodwin, 32, was a third-round pick of the Bills in 2013 out of Texas. He’s played for four teams, including last season with the Seahawks. He started two of 13 games, catching 27 passes for 387 yards, a 14.3 average, and tying a career high with four touchdowns.

Goodwin (5-foot-9, 180 pounds) ran a 4.27-second 40-yard dash at the combine a decade ago and has averaged 16.2 yards a catch for his career.

In 102 games and 44 starts, he has 187 catches for 3,023 yards and 18 touchdowns.

“He’s so explosive, I don’t know how old he is, but he’s still really, really fast and it shows on the field,” Seahawks coach Pete Carroll said last year. “He gives you a real boost and you can see it.”

Moore, who turns 23 on Monday, was clocked at 4.32 in the 40 before he was drafted No. 34 in 2021.

The new guys join Amari Cooper, Donovan Peoples-Jones, David Bell, Anthony Schwartz and Michael Woods II at receiver. Schwartz, a third-round pick in 2021, could be in jeopardy of not making the team in the summer. He was supposed to be the team’s burner but has had a disappointing two seasons, catching 14 passes in 25 games.
