A gift of $20 million from Browns owners Dee and Jimmy Haslam will establish a new University Hospitals Haslam Sports Innovation Center, the hospital announced Tuesday morning.
The center will identify and invest in sports medicine to improve performance, reduce injury and promote healing for professional and recreational athletes. Browns team doctor James Voos will lead the center. He’s also the chair of UH’s Department of Orthopedic Surgery.

“Dee and Jimmy Haslam are dedicated to creating impactful change within professional sports and in their communities,” Voos said in the news release. “The Haslam Center was created to revolutionize medicine for athletes in professional sports and of all ages and abilities. It will propel technology forward to enhance the health and safety for patients everywhere.”
The Haslams are also investors in the NBA’s Milwaukee Bucks and MLS’ Columbus Crew.

Voos has done work in regenerative medicine, surgical advancements and recovery.
